An experienced coach and keen runner myself, I compete in events from 5K through to the Marathon. I have been fortunate enough to benefit from the improvements in both speed and endurance that can be achieved through learning to run with correct skill and technique. Reducing personal best times and eliminating recurring injuries are often aspirations for many runners, which I fully empathize with, and throughout the last 9 years have taken great pride in helping clients to achieve.

In most sports, balance, co-ordination and skill play a significant role in performance, running is no different! Effort and determination are not the sole ingredients for a Champion!

I have been coaching running biomechanics since 2011, and have enjoyed running for as long as I can remember (initially the mud and hills of my schools Junior Cross Country course). I currently run between 50-60miles per week, competing for a local running club in Chesterfield, I have also represented Derbyshire in the county XC team, and England in the Masters Marathon team (2018 & 2019) finishing 4th Male V40. I am injury free :) and still reaching new PB's at 40 something which I relate to my training and form. 

As the Founder & Lead Coach for The Running Coach, I work with clients providing individual assessments and training on running form at my training studio in Chesterfield.  I also deliver weekend workshops educating athletes (Runners, Triathletes and other sportsmen/women) on biomechanics of running to improve running ability for sporting performance, and assessing injurious movement patterns. 

Clients range from recreational runners through to elite athletes, club coaches and professional sportsmen/women. I have had the pleasure of watching clients overcome recurring running injuries in very short spaces of time, achieve new PB's at all distances, win county championships and make the podium finish at the National Championships. I have worked with many Children who are aspiring football players to improve their agility, change of pace and performance on the pitch, helping them acheive academy contracts.

I have also worked with England Athletics Coaches (various levels of accreditation) who need focused assements on technique for their athletes, wanting to achieve marginal gains and/or break the recurrence of niggles/injury.

I have also worked with sports scientists and researchers at Loughborough University in identifying the ideal long distance running biomechanics and participated in studies to improve elite endurance running economy over a period of months (with great success).
